Sinopsis
La rebelión comunera partió de la crítica y del descontento sobre la manera de gobernar de Carlos I y de sus personas de confianza, sobre la imposición del servicio como carga tributaria especial para sufragar unos gastos que nada tenían que ver con Castilla, por el proyecto imperial que convertía a Castilla en un apéndice del Imperio, por los reiterados incumplimientos de promesas y otros agravios que se recogen en los documentos. En definitiva, los comuneros abanderaron y galvanizaron un descontento generalizado de los castellanos que no aceptaban la realidad que se vivía día a día de Castilla. Tal situación facilitaba una relajación en las obligaciones de los gobernantes, provocaba un saqueo al tesoro y los recursos del reino, un deterioro de las relaciones sociales, de las instituciones y, por último, un abandono efectivo del reino por el rey. Desde una posición entre observadores y críticos de la vida política buscaron los argumentos para explicar los principios en los que se asentaban sus ofertas de reforma sobre la forma de gobierno, con el fin de actuar de manera coherente y beneficiosa para los castellanos.
