Sinopsis
La tesis de esta obra es que la gubernamentalidad neoliberal hace del empresariado académico una biopolítica, en la medida en que produce un "medio ambiente" (milieu) donde la vida y el conocimiento se transforman en factores productivos. Cómo emerge este milieu en Colombia, de la mano de qué técnicas, a partir de qué estrategias y en busca de qué objetivos, son algunas de las preguntas que el libro de Jorge Eliecer busca resolver. Para ello el autor echa mano de la obra más recientemente publicada de Foucault (los cursos de 1978-1979 a los que se hizo mos alusión), pero también de algunos autores que ven en el neoliberalismo la manifestación de una gubernamentalidad global capitalista.
