En los últimos veinte años, los estudios literarios han estado prisioneros de modelos rígidos, que en aras a justificar su veracidad cientificista, han convertido la obra literaria en un cadáver exquisito.
Los diferentes modelos y teorías han venido escamoteando la obra literaria, reduciéndola a su mínima expresión, sin comprender que la literatura dialoga con otras disciplinas y con otras culturas.
Lectura, Imaginación y Memoria, que el Programa Editorial de la Universidad del Valle publica por primera vez al público hispanoamericano, recopila doce lúcidos ensayos donde el investigador canadiense Gilles Thérien reflexiona sobre las diferentes teorías literarias y propone un modelo de lectura literaria.
