Sinopsis
El planteamiento central del libro es que el escenario de lento crecimiento por el que atraviesa la economía mexicana, desde mediados de los años ochenta del siglo XX, se ha transferido a las entidades federativas en una tendencia de escasa generación de empleo formal debido al insuficiente crecimiento del sector manufacturero, inducido por las características endógenas de las regiones de México. Con la estimación de funciones de empleo –con datos de panel y con efectos espaciales– para el total de la manufactura y por gran división, se obtiene evidencia de que la disposición de capital humano, el perfil de especialización de la manufactura y la diversificación económica de las regiones son condiciones de endogeneidad que contribuyen a la explicación del problema del empleo formal en México.
