A través de un estudio de caso pionero -científicos de la ex Unión Soviética inmigrantes en México-, se develan las tensiones y distensiones que el proceso migratorio produce en la identidad científica de los sujetos de estudio, así como las maneras en que éstos las gestionan y resuelven. Se presenta a la inmigración altamente calificada no en la dicotomía tradicional de ganancias y pérdidas de "cerebros", sino como una apuesta que el sujeto científico migrante pone en acción para encontrar su lugar en el mundo y construir nichos académicos a donde pertenecer
