Nuestros sueños están habitados por historias pero, si miramos bien, dentro de estas podemos identificar siempre una multitud de artefactos y objetos tecnológicos. Estos parecen estar ahí por casualidad, pero en ocasiones llegan a ser el objeto central de todo el evento, como la jeringa en el famoso sueño de Freud.
Los instrumentos de la noche estudia la presencia inquietante de estos objetos en nuestra vida onírica y como se les ha ido dando significado a lo largo del tiempo. A través de la lectura de textos clásicos sobre teoría e interpretación de los sueños y la revisión de los registros personales de distintas personas entre las que destacan Cardano, Swedenborg, Lichtenberg, Hervey de San Denis o Benjamin, se va hilando la historia de estos objetos oníricos, lo que nos cuentan del soñante y de su presente, y lo que nos dicen de ellos mismos, artificios para la vida diurna que nos habitan de noche.
Una historia a partir de lo que ha sido soñado, que muestra cómo la imagen onírica de esos objetos, está dotada de vida.
