La obra presente desmitifica tal creencia por medio de diversas investigaciones científicas efectuadas tanto en México (en diversos estados del país) como en Perú (Lima), entre los trabajadores de diez organizaciones de diversos ramos de activiad económica: restaurantes, hospitales, instituciones de educación superior, comercios, entre otros, para un total de 3,252 trabajadores quienes respondieron voluntariamente los cuestionarios aplicados. En la época actual las organizaciones sufren por la falta de trabajadores con las competencias requridas; el salario puede ser un aspecto de interés para atraer a trabajadores talentosos, pero conservarlos dependerá de otros factores. Esto queda demostrado porlas investigacion insertas en la presente obra. Las organizaciones de todo tipo deberían prestar mayor atención a estos otros factores intangiles, los cuales no sólo pueden reducir los costos sino también incrementar la productividad y la calidad de vida de los trabajadores.
