Sinopsis
El agua es un recurso fundamental para la vida porque ha permitido la expansión de las sociedades contemporáneas. En este libro analizo el papel que jugó el control del recurso hídrico en el municipio de Ixtapan de la Sal para el crecimiento del turismo y la emergencia de una poderosa élite familiar. cómo las políticas del Estado mexicano, aplicadas entre los años cuarenta y setenta, posibilitaron la emergencia de élites en las entidades federativas. En el caso de Ixtapan de la Sal, las concesiones de manantiales de aguas termales, la implementación de políticas orientadas a generar incentivos en la inversión privada y la concesión de agua potable permitieron la concentración de poder de la familia San Román. En esta investigación me interesa mostrar los procesos sociales que configuraron actores muy relevantes para el municipio, no tengo ningún interés en construir una apología de los logros de la familia San Román, tampoco me interesa construir una imagen negativa de esta élite local.
