Este libro constituye el primer manual en castellano que recoge, de forma sistematizada, gran parte de la evidencia teórica, empírica y práctica en torno a la psicología en las unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI). En la redacción de esta obra han participado expertos académicos y profesionales asistenciales en activo, sumándose con ello una eminente visión práctica y experiencia tangible.
Con ese doble objetivo científico-académico y aplicado, la obra se ha organizado en cinco grandes grupos temáticos: contextualización y modelo general de intervención, paciente, familia, profesionales y otras áreas de intervención, entre las que se aborda el síndrome postcuidados intensivos o las aportaciones de la psicología ambiental en las UCI, por ejemplo.
