Hasta ahora el pentecostalismo ha sido estudiado desde una perspectiva predominantemente sociológica, tendiendo a interpretar la conversión al pentecostalismo básicamente como un mecanismo de adaptación social y cultural a los cambios experimentados por la sociedad chilena, descuidando así su dimensión propiamente religiosa y su significación teológica. Este libro, luego de una visión panorámica de los antecedentes históricos y teológicos del pentecostalismo a nivel global, nos introduce en las raíces metodistas, los orígenes en Valparaíso, las particularidades teológicas, la inserción en la cultura religiosa popular, las relaciones con otras iglesias, y el impacto en la sociedad del pentecostalismo “a la chilena”.
