Sinopsis
Las nuevas realidades urbanas del siglo XXI han cambiado la escala de interpretación y acción en el territorio, multiplicando las dimensiones de su complejidad y en la reflexión acerca de los desafíos para la acción en el nuevo contexto; en este trabajo se enfatiza la necesidad de renovar; los actuales esquemas de intervención bajo el supuesto de que el conocimiento disponible en este campo es exiguo para explicar y atender los problemas urbanos observados en la ciudad contemporánea.
Esta condición nos aporta elementos suficientes para el abordaje de la planeación urbana como tema central del libro en el que se revisan tres componentes fundamentales: su historia, su soporte teórico y sus tendencias emergentes en el contexto actual que, en conjunto, se espera sirvan de base para el fortalecimiento de la planeación urbana mexicana en respuesta a las exigencias de la agenda internacional en esta materia, tanto desde la perspectiva disciplinaria como desde el ámbito de la acción pública.
