El presente libro gira en torno al surgimiento y la formación de un tipo de empresario de la industria maquiladora del vestido, ubicado en un pequeño pueblo rural del sur del estado de Puebla. Cuenta cómo la industria maquiladora comenzó a instalarse e incrustarse en el pueblo y en el corazón de sus habitantes. Además, explora la manera en que se crea y recrea dicho tipo de empresario, el cual se vuelve un sujeto social. Al diversificar sus actividades económicas y de sustento, se inserta en una dinámica que trae consigo un modelo específico de trabajo, de producción y de comercialización. Todo lo anterior se encarna en la maquiladora de exportación, con alcances nacionales e internacionales.
