Sinopsis
Centrados en la flora de los bosques de Pinus sp., Quercus sp. y Abies sp, ecosistemas templados-fríos del Estado de México, los autores documentan casos específicos sobre el aprovechamiento de la recolecta de hongos y uso de la flora en las diferentes comunidades vecinas, dependiendo de su sociedad y cultura. Así, muestran que el conocimiento de la biodiversidad da a la población una memoria biocultural alimenticia y medicinal apoyada en la enseñanza de los principales maestros: madres, padres, abuelas y abuelos; pues, las comunidades al conocer el ritmo natural del ambiente generan estrategias apropiadas para el desarrollo y aprovechamiento del suelo, así como una fuente de ingresos económicos; pero su desconocimiento (tala, sobreexplotación o cambio de uso de suelo) pone en riesgo la relación equilibrada sociedad-ambiente-cultura, llevando a la población a otro tipo de adaptaciones menos orgánicas o naturales.
