Sinopsis
Suele decirse, para hablar de México, que es un país de tres pisos: el subsuelo prehispánico (que en ocasiones se llama de contacto previo), la etapa colonial (mestizaje y aculturación) y la independencia, desde la liberación hasta los tiempos modernos, pasando por la revolución de 1910. Los antiguos mexicanos veían más bien una sucesión de edades, los “soles”, el último, al final del cual vivimos, corresponde a la era de los temblores de tierra (Ollin).
La literatura, en México, ha conocido esta sucesión. Si la época prehispánica solo ha dejado pocas huellas, borradas por los conquistadores, la era del mestizaje empieza de verdad con una mujer, una de las grandes poetas de la historia literaria mexicana, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, mezcla de la herencia indígena de su pueblo natal y del manierismo arquitectónico del barroco hispano-lusitano. En virtud de su audacia, su sinceridad y de su entrega es la primera autora moderna que afirma la libertad de las mujeres.
La modernidad de México es también el nacimiento en la novela de algo confuso y fascinante que se ha llamado “realismo mágico”, la idea se atribuye a Gabriel García Márquez –aunque su inventor haya sido Juan Rulfo.
En 1968, cuando publica su obra maestra Pueblo en vilo (traducido al francés con el título de Barrières de la solitude), el historiador Luis González y González inaugura la tercera etapa de México, que la separa de la vaga oleada del modernismo científico, al instaurar el reconocimiento del particularismo agrícola. Esta etapa apenas comienza. En nuestro tiempo de universalismo (y de guerras sin cuartel) ¿por modestia o por realismo, deberíamos unirnos a él?
