En este libro se intenta establecer de qué manera, tras un largo y complejo proceso histórico iniciado desde hace más de cinco siglos, se ha dado lugar a diferentes configuraciones socioétnicas entre diversos sujetos históricos, esto es, de relaciones interétnicas y de clase entre colonizados y colonizadores a partir de las experiencias históricas de un pueblo de los Altos de Guatemala: san Miguel Totonicapán.
