Sinopsis
"Yngermina o la hija de Calamar" (1844) debe considerarse la primera novela colombiana. Publicada en Jamaica durante el exilio de su autor, probablemente circuló muy poco por las repúblicas surgidas en la Nueva Granada tras la ruptura del proyecto bolivariano. Situada la acción en la época de la conquista, por un lado enfrenta a los indios de la región de Calamar, actual Cartagena de Indias, con los españoles, y, por otro, pone en valor el mestizaje para la construcción del nuevo país.
